Question 1

How are the substitutions generated?

Accepted Answer

We use AI trained on cooking and allergen knowledge. It reads every ingredient — including sneaky ones like store-bought pesto or soy sauce — checks it against everyone in your household at once, and picks a single swap that works for all of them.

Question 2

Does it work with recipes in other languages?

Accepted Answer

Yes, on a best-effort basis. Paste a recipe in any language and we'll reply in that same language.

Question 3

Can I edit the modified recipe?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Tap any line of the modified recipe — the title, an ingredient, or a step — to edit it before copying or saving.

Question 4

Can I trust it for severe allergies?

Accepted Answer

freeformkitchen is a helpful starting point, not a guarantee. We can't see inside packaged ingredients, and recipes change. Always read labels and check for cross-contamination warnings, especially for serious allergies.

Question 5

Will the swapped recipe still taste and cook like the original?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The AI rewrites the cooking steps along with the ingredients, not just the shopping list, so the method still works with the new swaps. You can tap any line to tweak a swap before you cook, then save the version that tasted right.

Question 6

How can I adapt one recipe for multiple food allergies?

Accepted Answer

Use freeformkitchen as a recipe converter for multiple food allergies: add each person's restrictions to your household, paste the recipe, and the AI checks every ingredient against everyone at once, then gives you one version that works for the whole table.

Question 7

Can it make low sodium recipes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Add a Low Sodium profile to your household and freeformkitchen swaps high-sodium ingredients like broth, soy sauce, cured meats and seasoning blends for lower-sodium alternatives, then adjusts the seasoning so the dish still tastes full, not flat.

Question 8

Can it make low sodium chicken recipes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Add the Low Sodium profile, paste any chicken recipe, and it swaps salty marinades, bouillon and bottled sauces for lower-sodium versions while keeping the chicken juicy and flavorful.

Question 9

Can it make low sodium soup recipes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Soup hides a lot of sodium in broth and canned tomatoes. The Low Sodium profile swaps those for low-sodium or homemade alternatives and adjusts the seasoning so the bowl still tastes rich.

Question 10

Does it work for diabetic friendly recipes?

Accepted Answer

Add a Diabetic-Friendly profile and the AI reduces added sugars and refined carbs, swaps in whole grains or lower-glycemic alternatives, and explains each change. It is a helpful starting point, so always check portion sizes and labels with your care team.

Question 11

Can it adapt recipes to be heart healthy?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Heart-Healthy profile cuts saturated fat and sodium, swaps in healthier fats and whole grains, and rewrites the cooking steps so the dish still tastes right.

Paste any recipe. We'll make it safe for everyone in your house.
